Cấu trúc: K肯定句: S + was/were + V-ing (Participle Present) K否定句: S + was/were not + V-ing (Participle Present) Câu hỏi: Was/Were + S + V-ing (Participle Present)? 1.2. Cách dùng: Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm trong quá khứ: Ví dụ: At 8 o'clock yesterday morning, I was having breakfast when my phone rang. (Lúc 8 giờ sáng hôm qua, tôi đang ăn sáng thì điện thoại reo.) She was cooking dinner when her husband came home. (Cô ấy đang nấu cơm khi chồng cô ấy về nhà.) Diễn tả chuỗi hành động xảy ra cùng lúc trong quá khứ: Ví dụ: Their family was playing, cooking and watching TV when it started to rain. (Gia đình họ đang chơi đùa, nấu ăn và xem TV khi trời bắt đầu mưa.) Diễn tả hành động đang xảy ra nhưng bị ngắt quãng bởi một hành động khác trong quá khứ: Ví dụ: I was walking to school when I saw an accident. (Tôi đang đi bộ đến trường thì nhìn thấy một vụ tai nạn.) We were talking when the phone rang. (Chúng tôi đang nói chuyện thì điện thoại reo.) 1.3. Dấu hiệu nhận biết: Có các từ khóa chỉ thời điểm trong quá khứ: while, when, as, at, during, ... Có hai hành động xảy ra cùng lúc trong quá khứ. Có một hành động đang xảy ra nhưng bị ngắt quãng bởi một hành động khác trong quá khứ. 2. Bài tập: Bài tập 1: Chia động từ ở trong ngoặc ở thì quá khứ tiếp diễn để hoàn thành câu: I (walk) home when it started to rain. It was raining while we (have) dinner. I saw the department stores when I (sit) on the bus. Her phone rang while she (talk) to her new boss. They (play) in the park when I saw them.
